HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 18 (ACN) The United States is not capable of showing credible evidence to justify the inclusion of Cuba in the unilateral list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said on Friday.
On Twitter, Rodriguez expressed that cheap politicking and opportunism dictate U.S. foreign policy positions.
“The US is unable to show credible evidence to justify the inclusion of #Cuba in the State Dept.’s unilateral list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism. Cheap politicking and opportunism dictate US foreign policy positions,” he tweeted.
The United States (U.S.) State Department on Thursday singled out Cuba for maintaining ties with Iran and North Korea, and informed that Washington is still reviewing the island’s inclusion on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
John T. Godfrey, acting U.S. State Department coordinator for terrorism, assured in a press conference that the policy on Cuba and that designation are still under review.
In January of this year the United States again included the Caribbean nation in that list, from which it had been absent since 2015, withdrawn under the administration of Democrat Barack Obama.
