Camaguey, Oct 16 (ACN) China opened an International Institute for Research on Artificial Intelligence, a project designed since 2019 by the University for International Studies in the province of Hebei and several Cuban higher education centers.
The initiative aims at boosting social development in areas such as biotechnology and biomedicine, renewable energy, quality of life, smart cities, industry 4.0 and telecommunications.
Institute president Yaile Caballero said that the project expands collaboration between Cuba and China to contribute to innovation and knowledge towards a better future.
Caballer, who is also director for International Relations at Cuba’s Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz University of Camaguey told ACN that computer sciences and artificial intelligence in particular constitute a challenge to the scientific communities of Cuba and China.
