HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 29 (ACN) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro evoked the Apostle of Cuban independence, Jose Marti, on the 171st anniversary of his birth.
We celebrate the life of the man who was a passionate defender of Bolivarian thought, a great writer, intellectual and politician, admired in the world for his honesty, sensitivity and commitment to the cause of the people, the president wrote on X.
Also on the same social network, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yvan Gil, affirmed on Sunday that the Bolivarian Revolution “proudly continues to uphold the legacy of Jose Marti”.
As a reminder that, even in the midst of adversities, we can continue transforming the world, the diplomat said.
Other tributes to Martí took place in different countries. Cubans living in Ecuador joined in Quito in a baseball game in homage to the birthday of the Cuban National Hero and against the U.S. blockade on the island.
