HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 17 (ACN) Cuban table tennis player Yunier Fernandez maintained the successful path at the 7th Parapan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023, by defeating today 3-0 Mexico’s Fernando Eberhard, based at the Olympic Training Center.
Fernandez, from the TT 1 class, achieved Friday his second victory in the preliminary phase, now with easy sets of 11-7, 11-6 and 11-8, after beating on Thursday the US Michael Godfrey, also 3-0 in his debut.
With these results, he ratifies himself as the main winning athlete for Cuban paratenis, due to his current competitive form and his condition of champion of the previous edition of Lima 2019 and owner of two other silver medals and one bronze, which makes him the possible first gold medalist of Cuba in the Games.
