HAVANA, Cuba, May 10 (ACN) Cuban freestyle wrestlers Laura Herin, 53 kilograms (kg), and Yaynelis Sanz (57 kg), lost their chances to attend the Paris 2024 Olympic Games today, in the world wrestling qualifier held in Istanbul.
Both athletes had two victories before falling in the quarterfinals, so they expected the possibility of advancing to the repechage and at least placing third in their respective divisions, which ultimately did not happen.
As it turned out, their victims in the round of eight fell in the semifinals and did not drag them to the repechage, which was the option left to the Cuban wrestlers.
Herin debuted with an 18-8 success by technical superiority (TS) against Gultakin Shirinova of Azerbaijan an
