Sebastian: “I really want to see REAL snow.”❄️
PomPom and Wella: “Say no more.” And we were off!
So we packed up our snow gear and drove an hour and a half up to Wrightwood in the local San Gabriel Mountains and enjoyed a glorious 4 day family getaway.
We rented a beautiful chalet via Air BnB and it was so worth it! The place was massive, yet cozy, with rooms for everyone. And a hiddlen game room with a secret door. We were sooo winning the grandparent of the year award! LOL.
Everything about the place was so gorgeous. We immediately found our rooms and settled in.
And then we wandered around inside the chalet, ooh-ing and aah-ing.
When the night descended, we were amazed and delighted to actuallly see stars. That doesn’t happen much in our light polluted suburban area. It was quite magical.
At first, the kids were content to play in a snowdrift that had not melted right on our street.
But the next day it SNOWED! RIGHT ON US! We were all so crazed and happy. We were only there for snow play and not skiing. So we asked around and found a really great spot to throw snowballs and swish down the hills. What an adventure it turned out to be!
Sebastian’s dreams were coming true and we were having the time of our lives!
The cozying up in the chalet was a wonderful part of the weekend.
We cooked most of our meals and played games and even did some laundry which turned out to be entertaining to the littles. Who knew?
The best was getting to spend time with all our kids and the grands. It was just perfection.
The entire weekend had all the qualities of a great retreat. Quiet times alone plus wonderful times together.
We were tired and happy and, of course, I have a crack team helping to pull of this kind of magic. It also helped that we’re Cuban and we got a little help keeping our energy up from our good friends at Cafe La Llave Espresso. (Don’t judge.)

10/10 Darbys would reccomend. Thanking God for blessing us with this perfectly magical weekend. ❄️☃️
Also, my Cuban babies are already loving the taste of espresso. Shut up. I know.
