HAVANA, Cuba, May 15 (ACN) Cuban shooter Juan Miguel Rodriguez—bronze medalist in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens—won a silver medal in the qualifiers for the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023.
In the tournament, held in Cundinamarca, Colombia, the Island also secured another three individual and team places for the skeet competition.
Rodríguez finished second in the qualifying phase (with 116 hits in five rounds of 25 each) and won the semifinals on a tie with the Puerto Rican Miguel Pizarro, and in the finals lost the gold to the Guatemalan Carlos Padilla.
As to the team competition, the Dominican Republic won the qualifying stage with 201 points, followed by Puerto Rico (196), Guatemala (191), Cuba (187), Guadeloupe (183) and Colombia (177).
