PINAR DEL RÍO, Cuba, Apr 21 (ACN) The 24th National Congress on Cuban History begins today at this city’s university with an extensive theoretical program to be addressed in four working commissions in which Cuban researchers will discuss issues such as the struggles for independence and national liberation, the Cuban Revolution in power, and the country’s political and economic transformations and cultural and educational processes.
The topics will revolve around Cuba’s international relations in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries and their political, legal and ideological expressions and around problems related to the theory and teaching of history. Also scheduled is a tribute to the revolutionaries who engaged in the fight against bandits in the province of Pinar del Río, as well as the National Meeting of History Students, in which they will exchange views on the subject.
Promoted by the National Union of Historians of Cuba, this 24th edition is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the Institute of Cuban History, the Cuban Academy of History, the Office of Historical Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic, the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists, and the Center for José Martí Studies, among others.
