Havana, Jan 6 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez met with his Argentinean counterpart Santiago Cafiero on Thursday prior to the 22nd Ministerial Meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) taking place Friday in the Argentinean capital Buenos Aires.
The Cuban official wrote on his Twitter account that they signed accords for commercial exchange, cooperation and the development of agricultural production.
Minister Rodriguez thanked his counterpart for Argentina’s stance against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of the Cuban people and for a donation which the South American nation shipped to Cuba to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cuban government official reaffirmed his government’s historic position in support of Argentina’s sovereignty over the Falklands and surrounding maritime areas.
Bruno Rodriguez is heading the Cuban delegation to the CELAC Ministerial Meeting, in which Mexico will pass over the organization’s pro-tempore chair precisely to Argentina.
The gathering will also allow the advancement towards the reactivation of the regional Community as a political coordination mechanism based on the principles of unity and diversity.
