HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 27 (ACN) A large group of young people finished their studies in the largest graduation of the last few years from the meeting course of the Eliseo Reyes Rodriguez University of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT).
The Minister, Major General Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, presided over the graduation ceremony of this six-year course, dedicated to the 60th anniversary (in 2020) of MININT.
Many of its officers alternated their distance education activities with the fight against COVID-19 in isolation centers and hospitals and with their usual guard duties and patrolling actions, whereas others had to wait until they recovered from infection or because they suffered the loss of a family member, but none of them neglected their studies as part of their commitment to become better professionals.
A group of 22 of them earned the Gold Degree, and one deserved the Scientific Merit Award with a 4.6 grade and 89% quality.
“Receive our congratulations and keep improving yourselves every day,” MININT wrote on its official web page as part of its recognition to the directors of the university branches, the professors and their families and all those who one way or another gave their support to the achievement of this goal.
Eliseo Reyes Rodriguez (1940-1967), better known as Captain San Luis in the Rebel Army and Rolando in the Bolivian guerrilla, was just two days shy of his 27th birthday when he was killed in the front line of fire in the intricate Andean jungle on April 25, 1967.
As much in dismay as when one loses a son, Commander Ernesto Che Guevara wrote in his diary a lapidary phrase: “Black day”, which summarized with exceptional brevity all his pain.
“We have lost the best man of the guerrilla, and naturally, one of its pillars, my companion since, being almost a child, he was a messenger of Column 4, until the invasion and this new revolutionary adventure; of his dark death we can only say, for a hypothetical future that could crystallize: Your small corpse of brave captain has extended in the immense its metallic form”, said the Heroic Guerrilla.
