VERTIENTES, Camaguey, Cuba, Dec 6 (ACN) Cuban deputy prime minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca toured today sugar mills in the province of Camagüey, with the aim of checking the sector’s preparations for the next sugar harvest, which begins in the territory this month of December.
The tour of the leader began at the Batalla de Las Guasimas sugar mill in this southern municipality, where he learned about the actions being carried out both in the industry and in the agricultural machinery in preparation for the start of the harvest, scheduled for January 7.
The deputy prime minister, accompanied by directors of the AZCUBA Sugar Group and the Agroindustrial Company Batalla de Las Guasimas, toured the plant, where workers are increasing maintenance work throughout the industry, and the most important works are being carried out in the steam generation parts and in the mills.
Tapia Fonseca’s agenda includes visits to the Panama and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes sugar mills, the latter in charge of starting the harvest in this central province.
