Santa Clara, Cuba, Dec 28 (ACN) In a step forward to the country’s plans for energy independence, several companies in this central Cuban city signed contracts with the Electric Company to benefit from the output of local solar parks of the national energy system.
Companies like the soft drinks and liqueurs plant, and others linked to the culture field will pay for the connection to clean energy systems.
Electric Company Marketing Director Hector Esperon said that the action will allow in the mid and long terms the country’s development because the money paid for the service will be use to purchase and set up new solar panel systems.
With the contracts signed by the local entities, Villa Clara turns one of the first province to meet the National Development Plan till 2030 in terms of the environment and the reduction of fossil fuel consumption.
The initiative will be joined by other companies and even individuals in the province, said local authorities.
