The Rise of Covid-19 Cases in Cuba Continues: 556 Positive Cases in the Last 24 Hours

MIAMI, United States. – Three days have already elapsed in the new year 2022, and the number of Covid-19 cases in Cuba continues to rise. According to the most recent release by Cuba’s Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), as of close of day Sunday, January 2, there were 556 positive cases reported.
According to MINSAP, there are 6,638 individuals hospitalized in the country, 4,179 of them suspect cases, under observation 368, and confirmed active 2,091.
The 556 positive cases reported were the result of 17,869 COVID-19 tests processed in the last 24 hours. In the country, 11,731,194 coronavirus tests have been processed, with 967,498 being positive.
Of the total number of cases detected, 436 were contacts of confirmed cases; 105 originated abroad; and 15 with no identified source of contagion. Likewise, 34/1% (190) of the 556 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 133,948, which represents 13.8% of confirmed cases to date.
The age groups of those affected in the last 24 hours are as follows: 20 years and under (94 positive cases out of the total number); ages 20 to 39, 192 cases; ages 40 to 59, 181 cases; and 60 years of age and older, 89 cases.
There are 2,091 patients that remain hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Cuba, 2,067 of them in stable condition. Discharged today were 234 individuals, and 957,026 patients -98.9%- have recovered since the start of the pandemic.
There are 24 confirmed cases still in intensive care, 4 of them in critical condition, 20 of them in serious condition. During the last 24 hours, there were no fatalities in the country; the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 since the start of the health crisis in 2020 is 8,324.
As far as positive COVID-19 cases per province, the numbers are as follows: Pinar del Río 109 positive cases; Artemisa (26); Havana (76); Mayabeque (26); Matanzas (85); Cienfuegos (28); Villa Clara (16); Sancti Spíritus (22); Ciego de Ávila (35); Camagüey (37); Las Tunas (29); Granma (9); Holguín (31); Santiago de Cuba (9); Guantánamo (8); Isle of Youth (10).

Cuba’s Ministry of Public Health Reports 673 New Coronavirus Cases, 117 More than Yesterday

MIAMI, United States. – The number of positive cases of coronavirus continue to rise in Cuba, with 673 new contagions, 117 more than yesterday, January 3rd.
According to a report from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP, by its Spanish acronym), as of close of the day on Monday, 7,536 patients were hospitalized, 4,648 of them suspect of having the disease, 513 under observation, and 2,395 confirmed positive.
The 673 positive cases reported in the last 24 hours were the result of 18,310 tests administered to detect the coronavirus. The country has administered 11,749,504 Covid-19 tests -of which 968,171 have resulted positive- since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
Of the total positive cases detected, 538 occurred through confirmed contacts; 118 originated abroad; and 17 has no identifiable source. Likewise, 27.0% of the 673 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 134,129, or 13.8% of confirmed cases to date.
The population groups affected by coronavirus in the last day were 20 years of age and younger (with 115 total positive cases); between 20 and 39 years of age (273); between 40 and 59 (177); and 60 years of age and over (108).
Due to coronavirus, 2,375 patients remain hospitalized, 2,350 of them in stable condition. Three-hundred eighty-nine individuals were discharged in the course of the day, and 957,415 patients have recovered (98.9%) since the start of the pandemic.
Likewise, the MINSAP has assured the public that 25 confirmed patients are still in intensive care, 4 of them in critical condition and 21 in serious condition. In the last 24 hours, there were no fatalities in the country; the total number of deaths due to coronavirus since the start of the health crisis in 2020 is 8,324.

Covid-19 cases; Artemisa (45); Havana (70); Mayabeque (24); Matanzas (105); Cienfuegos (45); Villa Clara (28); Sancti Spíritus (39); Ciego de Ávila (38); Camagüey (31); Las Tunas (59); Granma (15); Holguín (53); Santiago de Cuba (3); Guantánamo (3); Isle of Youth (8).

Shortly before the New Year, Coronavirus Cases Increase in Cuba

MIAMI, United States. – Just hours before the end of 2021, it seems that coronavirus cases are on the rise after an impasse that lasted several months. According to this Friday’s Ministry of Public Health report, as of end of day yesterday, December 29th, there were 4,461 patients hospitalized, 3,096 suspect cases, 349 on close watch, and 1,016 cases confirmed.
According to the report, 20,935 sample tests were administered in keeping with the daily watch, with 328 tests coming back positive. The country has performed 11,647,855 tests, of which 965,571 were positive.
Out of all the cases, 222 were the result of confirmed contacts; 95 infections originated abroad and for 11, the source of contagion was undetermined. Also, 34.5% (113) of the 328 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 133,374 or 13.8% of cases confirmed to date.
The 328 diagnosed cases belong in the following age groups: younger than 20 years of age (46); 20 to 39 years of age (135); 40 to 59 years of age (101); and 60 and over (46).
As for positive cases per province: Pinar del Río reported 69 positive cases; Artemisa (16); Havana (60); Mayabeque (6); Matanzas (12); Cienfuegos (6); Vila Clara (4); Sancti Spíritus (16); Ciego de Ávila (33); Camagüey (54); Las Tunas (8); Granma (6); Holguín (23); Santiago de Cuba (4); Guantánamo (2); Isle of Youth (9).
Of the 965,571 patients diagnosed with the disease, 1,016 remain hospitalized, 1,006 in stable condition. There have been 8,322 deaths (one of them today), for a fatality rate of 0.86%.
