Havana, Dec 22 (ACN) The National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP) elected deputies Aylín Álvarez García and Karla Santana Rodríguez as new members of the Council of State during the 8th session of its 9th Legislature.
The results of the direct and secret vote of 553 parliamentarians were announced today in the plenary room of Havana’s International Conference Center during a session attended by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
Both young women gained 99.82% of the votes and took their seats amid the rest of the members of the Council of State after they were greeted and congratulated by the Cuban leader and by ANPP President Esteban Lazo Hernández, member of the Political Bureau.
Lazo also acknowledged the good work of the National Electoral and Candidacy Commissions in the process organized to fill the two places in the Council of State.
