HAVANA, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) The Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB by its Spanish acronym) will hold the first edition of the BioCubaAgro2022 International Congress, to be held June 6 to 10 this year.
On Twitter, CIGB announced that the event will be held at the Plaza America Convention Center, in Varadero, where scientific results and advances in agricultural biotechnology will be presented and discussed.
The Congress will allow international scientific exchange on carbohydrate biotransformations, new models/genes for insect control, transgenic plants resistant to diseases and pests, seed biology, and production and quality.
Founded on July 1, 1985, the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology is a Cuban institution dedicated to the production and commercialization of vaccines and biopharmaceuticals.
It is in charge of creating the anti-COVID-19 Abdala vaccine and developed the Mambisa vaccine candidate, administered intranasally, whose Phase I-II clinical trial was considered successful by the institution.
