HAVANA, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) Cuban deputy foreign minister Elio Rodriguez Perdomo arrived today in New York to head the Cuban delegation that will participate at the 1st International Migration Review Forum, to be held May 17-20.
According to the Cuban foreign ministry’s website, CubaMinrex, the event is organized by the International Organization for Migration, along with the United Nations, and Cuba will reaffirm its firm commitment to the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM).
To be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, this forum aims to review the progress achieved at the local, national, regional and global levels in the implementation of the Global Compact.
The quadrennial event will be hosted primarily by the President of the United Nations General Assembly and will include four interactive multi-stakeholder roundtables, a policy dialogue, and a plenary.
The final result will be a Declaration of Progress agreed among governments.
