HAVANA, Cuba, May 10 (ACN) In the midst of the commotion the country is going through due to the accident that took place five days ago at the Saratoga Hotel, authorities of the Ministry of Tourism reiterated today in Havana that Cuba will continue to be a safe, peaceful and quiet destination.
Before the national and foreign press, Carmen Casal Sanchez, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Tourism, stressed that principle and thanked the expressions of solidarity and support not only from the Cuban people and authorities, but also from tourism ministers from several countries, tour operators, airlines, commercial partners, well-known personalities and tourists.
After reiterating his condolences to the families of the victims of the unfortunate event, she acknowledged the commendable work of all the institutions that continue, tirelessly, the rescue and rescue work, the health personnel and the government.
Casal Sanchez pointed out that the sector’s facilities continue providing services to national and foreign tourists who enjoy their vacations in our destination, with the tranquility and security that characterize it.
On behalf of the Gaviota Business Group, its spokesman, Roberto Enrique Calzadilla, also thanked the people for their solidarity support in these difficult hours the country is going through, and the rescue and salvage forces, firefighters, builders, the Cuban Red Cross for their sacrifice and effort in the search for the missing.
He extended this feeling to the medical and health personnel, to the armed forces and to all the support volunteers, workers and neighbors of the hotel, to the local authorities and to the media for their permanent informative work.
Of the 51 workers who were working at the Saratoga at the time of the accident (gas explosion), 23 died and another three are still missing (two waitresses and a cook), and 22 are recovering from their injuries, while three are hospitalized.
