Havana, May 9 (ACN) The Cubans Elizabeth Caridad Reyes Entenza and Lesther Miguel Fernandez Prades will see action today in the penultimate day of the 2022 Junior World Weightlifting Championships being held in Heraklion, Greece.
Reyes (87 kg) has the second best personal result (a 225-kg biathlon) among the 10 participating contenders in a division led by the favorite Tursunoy Jabborova (Uzbekistan), whereas Fernandez’s best mark is 325, his 8-men division’s worst.
With a visual identity based on the mythical Minotaur and its labyrinth, the tournament hosts 305 weightlifters, 152 women and 153 men from 54 and 50 countries, respectively.
The Pan American Weightlifting Federation has praised the excellent achievements in terms of records and medals of young weightlifters from America, particularly from Colombia, Ecuador, United States and Mexico.
