HAVANA, Cuba, May 8 (ACN) Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Presidents of Cuba and Mexico, respectively, during official talks held this Sunday at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana, reiterated the ties of brotherhood between the two nations.
The Cuban president thanked Mexico for its historic support in the battle for the lifting of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade, informed the Foreign Ministry on its Twitter account.
Previously, López Obrador placed a wreath at the José Martí Memorial in the Plaza de la Revolución, a ceremony in which he was accompanied by Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa, a representation of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This Sunday, the Mexican Head of State received the José Martí Order, the highest decoration conferred by the Cuban government.
Several agreements were also signed between the two countries.
López Obrador arrived yesterday in Havana on a working visit that will last through Sunday and whose purpose is to deepen bilateral relations.
