HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 2 (ACN) The Cuba 2021 Business Forum, the most important event of the year for the country in terms of trade and investment, will finish today after four days of interactive exchanges with representatives of various organizations and sectors to strengthen and establish new relationships or businesses in these fields.
Described as very useful on account of the vast updated information that it shared, the event gathered about 3,000 participants from 86 nations, including government officials, chambers of commerce, trade and investment promotion agencies, Cuban and foreign businessmen and national non-state entities who followed the sessions online.
The final day includes an exchange with foreign companies about business in tourism, the biopharmaceutical industry, the agri-food sector and the field of renewable energies.
As Cuba enters the new normal and gradually resumes all economic and social activities, this meeting made it possible for ministers, executives and experts to talk about the main export goods and services in their respective branches and for Cuban entrepreneurs to describe their experiences, results and prospects.
Particularly significant was the presentation of the new Portfolio of Opportunities for Foreign Investment and for the promotion of business in the aforesaid priority sectors.
Likewise, as part of the efforts to strengthen the links between Cubans in the island and elsewhere, as a continuation of the dialogue initiated by Fidel Castro in 1978, the forum included a panel dedicated to the opportunities for Cuban nationals living abroad to do business with and invest in Cuba.
While the world is still affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and its serious economic and social consequences, Cuba remains committed to develop foreign trade and foreign investment, despite the obstacles imposed by the U.S. blockade, whose impact was also discussed at the meeting.
