HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 17 (ACN) During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cuba did not stop its legislative activity, according to Juan Antonio Quintanilla, ambassador and permanent representative of the island to international organizations based in Geneva, Switzerland.
In his speech at the Forum of Democracies, Quintanilla said that the said legislative activity will continue after the country entered the new normal on November 15.
Since the Forum of Democracies is dedicated this year to access to justice, the Cuban diplomat referred to the laws on Criminal Procedure, Courts of Justice, Administrative Procedure and Procedural Code recently approved in Cuba as part of the process to promulgate the latest Constitutional text in 2019 and a far-reaching legislative reform to reinforce people’s guarantees and rights.
According to the United Nations, the Forum on Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law provides a context to promote development, protect people from discrimination and ensure equal access to justice for all and to develop dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation based on the interrelationship between human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
