ARTEMISA, Cuba,Aug 11 (ACN) Urban quarantines in several municipalities and more isolation units for positive and suspected cases are two of the main measures suggested by the province of Artemisa’s Temporary Working Group (GTT) to tackle COVID-19 transmission in the region.
Gladys Martínez Verdecía, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), said that the local governments must see to it that these measures are implemented as soon and effectively as possible and improve the mechanisms to deliver food and medical supplies and other basic commodities.
The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) strives to increase the number of beds available to these patients and speed up the shipment of PCR samples to other provinces and the report of the results.
“Doctors will see Acute Respiratory Infection cases around the clock,” according to provincial governor Ricardo Concepción Rodríguez, who also urged to provide permanent care to homebound patients.
The GTT discussed people’s complaints regarding the approach to the pandemic in their municipalities and reported that right now Artemisa’s hospitals are treating 16 critical and 18 serious cases.
