Nueva Gerona, Aug 2 (ACN) Recent food donations from friendly nations benefit 28 thousand families in the Isle of Youth, a special municipality south of western Cuba.
The director of the municipal trade company Yarisleydi Rodriguez said the donation package for each household includes rice, beans, sugar and cooking oil, which will be delivered free of charge through the local network of grocery stores beginning August 3rd.
In order to reach senior citizens, physically challenged and vulnerable persons, social workers will be in charge of taking the foodstuffs to their places, said the official.
Given the complex COVID-19 spread in Cuba several nations including Mexico, Bolivia, China, Russia have shipped tons of foodstuffs and medicines to the Caribbean nation over the past weeks. The food donation is being delivered to all Cuban households.
